When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?
This election cycle, I am uniquely positioned to help Black and brown Long Islanders.
I am running to represent the district which is impacted by the effects of the Brookhaven Landfill. These communities, which are primarily Black communities, have spent years begging the town, county, and state to take action as their loved ones continued to get sick from the toxic ash at the landfill. With the revelation that Covanta has been knowingly poisoning the community, we need a representative who will take action to both mitigate the public health damage as well as work to make sure Covanta is held accountable and the community receives reparations.
In addition, I will partner with New York State and with local governments to make sure Black communities receive a fair share of grants for the creation and expansion of small businesses.
Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your campaign?
Legislator Mazzarella has failed to show up for the community. When I'm elected, I'll show up for you every day.
