Black Voters of Long Island Community Fund

Building Black civic power through nonpartisan education, leadership training, and voter engagement.

BVLI Community Fund is the 501(c)(3) arm of Black Voters of Long Island. While our broader coalition organizes for voting rights and civic power, BVLI-CF carries out the nonpartisan, educational, and charitable work that makes long-term civic engagement possible.

Our Initiatives

Black Voters of Long Island Community Fund builds Black civic power through nonpartisan education, leadership development, and community-rooted mobilization. Our flagship initiatives include our NextGen Campaign Staff Training Bootcamp that equips emerging Black leaders with the tools to run or support effective campaigns, and our multilingual, nonpartisan digital Voter Guide, which empowers Long Islanders to make informed choices at the ballot box. Through our vibrant Party 2 the Polls events in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, we celebrate early voting with free rides to the pollsites, resource tables, and joyful, culturally grounded outreach in partnership with local organizations.

Looking ahead, we plan to expand our civic engagement work through a range of initiatives that meet communities where they are. These include civics workshops in churches and barbershops, translated materials for Black immigrant communities, data tools that track turnout and representation, and redistricting and Census advocacy to ensure fair political maps. We also aim to convene a Coalition Leadership Council of Black-led organizations to align civic priorities across Long Island. Each of these efforts will help strengthen the infrastructure for long-term, community-driven political participation.
