With more than 30 years in local government, my focus is steady, practical work that reduces harm and supports equity in everyday services. In recent years, the Town administered a direct small-business support program with ARPA funding that helped entrepreneurs stabilize and grow. We also launched our own civil service system, which allows us to recruit directly within Babylon’s minority communities and continue to diversify our workforce. Through the Babylon IDA, we invested a substantial amount to help small businesses recover from the COVID pandemic, and the IDA’s ongoing Economic Inclusion Program expands access for underrepresented entrepreneurs and workers—linking them to financing, site selection, technical assistance, and supplier opportunities. The approach is straightforward: accessible services, consistent application of rules, and routine problem-solving across departments so Black Long Islanders can navigate Town processes fairly and benefit from what the Town offers.
