Candidate Questionnaire Responses
When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?
As a retired teacher, I believe that children should have access to affordable pre-school and after school care. Parents should be able to provide for their families without the financial burden of keeping their children safe and educated. Early support and intervention will put the children on the path to success. As children navigate through their school years, opportunities for affordable higher education and/or trade schools should be made available. This will help our vulnerable community of students to start off on equal ground.
Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your campaign?
Community safety has been my top priority. I live in a very diverse neighborhood in Riverhead. I have raised my 3 children here and they have all graduated from Riverhead HS. Riverhead is a beautiful community on many levels and we need to celebrate our diversity. If elected, I want Riverhead to be the community that folks respect and look up to.
