When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?

As District Attorney, I want to ensure that Black Long Islanders feel that they have a partner in the DA's office. My number one priority will be the safety and wellbeing of every Nassau resident. I will lead the office as a public servant, not a politician, and I will therefore focus on equal application of the law.

Under Anne Donnelly, major crimes have gone up 30%, and that's a problem for all Nassau residents but can disproportionately impact communities of color. Under the current administration, over 90 experienced prosecutors have left the office due to Donnelly's mismanagement of the office -- the same mismanagement that has eroded trust and relationships with community leaders. I plan to bring back this experience and rebuild the reputation of the Nassau DA’s office, recruiting strong talent to the office who represent all of Nassau.

I believe strongly in the importance of proactive prosecution and community prevention efforts, and those work best in collaboration with community groups and local leaders.I plan to have and regularly meet with community advisory councils to ensure that residents always have a clear avenue to bring forward their concerns related to crime, safety, and the district attorney’s office. Every community deserves the attention and resources they need for the specific issues impacting them, and this advisory council will ensure that I am able to properly address those needs.
