When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?
As a town council member, my goal will be to support minority-owned small businesses and find ways to support internship and apprenticeship programs for all of our young people. We do a wonderful job of educating our youth, and we should make sure we can keep their talents and contributions here on Long Island. I will also work with the 2nd precinct and other law enforcement agencies to ensure social justice is the norm for our communities.
Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your campaign?
As a trustee of the Huntington School Board of Education for 9 years, I worked on behalf of our very diverse student community to bring equity to our schools and programs. I'm very proud to have been a key vote on the board that got the Jack Abrams school reopened as a STEM Magnet School in the Huntington Station part of our school district.
