When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?
As the son of immigrants and a proud union member, I know what it’s like when hard work doesn’t guarantee fairness. Too many Black Long Islanders face those same barriers — to housing, opportunity, and safety — and I’m committed to changing that.
On the Islip Town Council, I’ll fight for equitable economic development, requiring local hiring and diversity goals in town contracts so Black-owned businesses and workers share in the benefits of public investment. I’ll push for truly affordable housing and transparent zoning reforms to prevent displacement and expand access to homeownership.
I’ll also strengthen job training and apprenticeship programs so young people — especially in historically underrepresented communities — can build stable, living-wage careers close to home. And I’ll support community-centered public safety, with mental health response and restorative justice programs that build trust and reduce harm.
Equity means removing barriers and opening doors that have been closed for too long. That’s the kind of leadership I’ll bring to Islip Town Hall.
