When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?
Social and economic equity can only be achieved for Black Long Islanders when we acknowledge both our history and the systemic inequity that continues to pervade our communities. As an immigration lawyer, my job is to fight every day for the rights of marginalized individuals who have had their freedom and voices stripped away. I have a front-row seat to the injustices woven into our system and know that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. I am committed to listening to Black Long Islanders and following their lead in my elected role as we fight for equity, both social and economic.
