Candidate Questionnaire Responses

When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?

Since my term began in January 2022, I have pushed forward and supported a community policing model implemented by our Police Commissioner as well as the multi-pronged approach known as "Operation Natalie" to help combat the opioid epidemic. We have also recently passed a resolution for police officer body-worn cameras, which will help promote transparency in policing. In my next term, I will focus on affordable housing solutions in tandem with the Comprehensive Plan that we just passed to review and update zoning policies as well as putting in place a multifaceted, comprehensive approach including involving the community in decision-making processes related to housing development.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your campaign?

I am dedicated to serving my community and to strengthening all of our neighborhoods, including integrating transit-oriented development into the future planning for our city's growth and development, implementing revitalization efforts, and creating a bikeable, walkable city to address our traffic and sustainability needs into the future. This will be vital in creating an equitable community where all residents can thrive and lessening the disparities that drive us apart.
