When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?
Thank you for raising this important issue. As Town of Babylon Councilman, my priority is to ensure social and economic equity for all residents, including Black Long Islanders, to make sure our Town strives to be safe, strong and resilient.
Community Safety: After listening to the needs of our residents, The Town of Babylon Council hired more public safety officers to make sure our resident's quality of life is being maintained. Results have already taken into effect as we have targeted train stations, prostitution rings and drug houses.
Education and Opportunities: Starting this year, we have been going into all the schools in our town and have been speaking to classes about the role of local government and providing internships for all students. Since the start of this program we have created an internship program that has over 40 kids who help in contacting residents.
Business Development and Support: In partnership with the Babylon IDA, The Economic Inclusion Initiative is an innovative program with a goal to create opportunities of equity, mobility, and growth for Minority/Women and Veteran entrepreneurs within the Babylon Township by providing Financial, Training & Technical Assistance, MBWE/VETERAN Certifications & Ongoing Developments.
Healthcare Access and Equity: This year, the Town Board has approved a second state of the art mental health and addiction treatment facility in North Amityville, which is low to no cost for residents.
If re-elected, my record demonstrates a commitment to these principles, including past support for policies promoting diverse representation within the town government. I am dedicated to continuing and expanding these efforts to ensure a more equitable and just society for all residents, especially Black Long Islanders.
