When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?

I have been a part of multiple initiatives in Suffolk County to ensure equity; from SC Police Reform to becoming chair of the public safety committee. I have sponsored and cosponsored legislation and initiatives to ensure social and economic equity as chairman of the budget and finance committee. Most recently I have been a task force member for fair housing in Suffolk County.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your campaign?

If you look back at my history I have always been an advocate for the community. I was an active civic leader as the VP of the Bay Shore Summit Council as well as chair of Code Enforcement Committee on the Summit Council. I formed and presided over the Tri Hamlet Alliance which brought together civic leaders from Brentwood, Central Islip, and Bay Shore. The Hamlet worked on initiatives in all our communities by speaking as one voice to change town and county nuisance laws and NYS District court acts, to help protect residents from unscrupulous slum lords. We ran home buyer workshops and affordable housing developments to teach the residents and help break the cycle of poverty; giving them the education and opportunity of owning there own homes to build family stability and wealth and to stabilize there own community. More recently, I have been working with the First Baptist Church in Bay Shore with a stream restoration project to condemning a blighted property adjacent to the church and preserving it as open space in that community.
