When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?
Our town Anti-Bias task force currently has an annual budget of just $500. I would immediately move to raise this budget and would seek to partner with the Board of Ed to bring bring anti-racist programs into the schools. Smithtown is overwhelmingly white, if elected I would support development to help bring diversity to the town.
Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your campaign?
I am a first time candidate and my desire to run was ignited by the intolerance and racism that began to proudly show itself during Trump's administration. As Einstein said, I know nothing but the fact of my own ignorance, but I will always listen to Black leaders regarding their community needs and to learn how to best be an ally.
