Candidate Questionnaire Responses
When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?
I am currently the VP of the Long Beach City Council. The biggest success has been getting the Northshore infrastructure project to get started. It was held up by the MTA over legal issues. As this project impacts primarily people of color my colleagues and I were determined to get this done. I refused to let legal issues or political pressure stop me from doing the right thing.
Negotiated with the union CSEA have part time employees recognized as full time members so people have a say at the table.
My running mate James Hodge will say if you're not at the table you are on the menu. I continue to work with all our residents.
I've assisted families find housing. Attend tenants meetings in the Housing Authority.
As a person with a disability I understand what it is like to fight for access, be denied basic quality of life requests from government officials. Part of why I ran and won 4 years ago.
No one, no one ever gets left behind is my core belief.
Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your campaign?
It's an uphill challenge. My opponents, the Republican machine, is outspending us my tens of thousands of dollars. They are running for power. Tina Posterli, James Hodge and I are running for residents.
