Candidate Questionnaire Responses

When in office, what will you do to reduce harm and ensure there is social and economic equity for Black Long Islanders? If you are an incumbent, what policies/initiatives/laws have you supported that do this?

First, I will remove oversight of our Town Anti-Bias Task Force from the Town Board. The Task Force must be allowed to do its work unfettered by political ideologies, encouraging Riverhead Black residents to participate without fear of retribution. Second, I will organize a Supervisor's Work Group, Riverhead Town Minorities, and invite leaders from all Town minority communities, including our Black population, to participate. Third, I will work cooperatively on workforce development for the Town with the school district to ensure that career opportunities are truly available to all, most specifically our underrepresented black population. Fourth, I will work to ensure that the current inequities for services, such as Town sewer, are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your campaign?

My campaign stems from our dire need to have a local government responsive to and accountable to all residents, including our black population. I am especially committed to having Town employment opportunities advertised through our churches in an effort ot reach all candidates.
