I think the first step is to partner with reputable African American organizations to create relationships and help provide the proper pathway for our leaders and our residents to ensure cohesion, understanding and ultimately success. We need to ensure that everyone in a community has the same access and opportunities available. We must also ensure that public policy is being implemented fairly across the boards in order for us to achieve equitable fairness and justice. Regarding economic equity, in order for fairness to be achieved, then all Black Long Islander’s must have the ability to engage in economic process including as Black owned and operated businesses, and continuing engagement in the economy as consumers and employees.
